Types of Giving 

The Bible teaches us that there are 4 main types of giving.  They are tithing, offerings and almsgiving and first fruits. 

  1.  Tithing 

Tithing Defined:  A tenth part 

Tithing accelerates the blessing.

All of these offerings are fulfilled in Christ.

  1. Almsgiving Defined 

According to Webster 1828 Dictionary, alms is anything given gratuitously to relieve the poor, as money, food, or clothing, otherwise called charity.   Almsgiving is the bestowment of charity.  The Hebrew word for almsgiving, ”tzedakah,” means righteousness.  Alms in the Greek is compassionateness, that is, (as exercised towards the poor) beneficence, or (concretely) a benefaction: – alms (-deeds).

From the same as H7218; the first, in place, time, order or rank (specifically a firstfruit): – beginning, chief (-est), first (-fruits, part, time), principal thing.
